‘The challenge is not
that one will fail, but the challenge is that one is expected to fail’. Growing
up in a black community taught me that it is imperative for one to seek growth
so that they may come out of their comfort zone, but the harder they tried the
more they are told how much they will fail. Isn’t it funny that sometimes
people fail because of the rustic mind-set that other people have? Isn’t it
funny that people conclude unsophisticatedly so, about the vision and mission
they find hard to understand? Isn’t it funny that people are crushed by the
rustic ideas that other people have?
Here is
my encouragement: -
“If you
can’t fly, then run,
if you
can’t run, then walk,
if you
can’t walk, then crawl,
but
whatever you do,
you
have to keep moving forward”
–Dr
Martin Luther King
We
cannot allow people to rule over us, our destiny, our purpose, our vision and
mission, we are created to be gods of our vision and mission so that we can
over power the system of the world. The great Apostle Paul had a philosophy “we
are more than conquerors” ROM 8:37, Paul understood the importance of fixing
his thoughts on victory because you can only become what you think.
I for one believe that
it is not easy to build an empire but it is easy to destroy it. The mind. The message
has been communicated so many times that we become what our hearts are, our
actions expose who we are inside because how we dress or how adequate and
intelligent we are does not even say a word about who we are. The mind has a
huge influence when it comes to building and challenging who we truly are. I believe
that if we fail in our minds then we will fail in our lives, hence we always
speak about revamping our minds so that we can remember who we truly are and
what we want in life.
Moving out of topic. I have
realised that we easily adapt to the systems of our surrounding. How things are
done in our community to a point that we get to comfortable about who and where
we are. Therefore, our minds need to be challenged so that we can seek growth
and break out of the system, if people through their rustic mind-set suggest
that you will fail then you need to try harder because your mind can’t take
what one man says and meditate on it then you begin to fail in your mind.
Moving back to the topic. I had
a chance to sit down and think about Nelson Rolohlahla Mandela’s story and I started
to understand that Nelson had to deal with his mind when he was moving out of
prison. This man had to say ‘since now we have power, let us then destroy white
people’, but no he dealt with his mind so that he can challenge growth in
millions of South Africans and also challenge them to forgive white people for
100 years of apartheid. “As I walked
out the door toward the gate that would lead to my freedom, I knew if I didn't
leave my bitterness and hatred behind, I'd still be in prison.” –Nelson Mandela
It is important to deal
with your mind in all things including discouragements, stress, pain,
suffering, joy, peace, love, hatred, death, failure, racial problems and etc.
Deal with your mind because your mind has power to make you a failure. Which is
the reason why we speak about poverty mind-set and rustic mind-set because
people are trapped not by chains but in their minds.
