Rebuild the temple of God-rebuild your life for God to live in you
Opening to the Introduction
One man once said "the greatest crime is not lying to people, but lying to yourself"
As children of God in this contemporary world we have built a room, a room where we can get in and picture whatever we want to, and whatever we picture becomes a reality to us. We have built a room where everything makes sense to us but not to other people.
When Jesus came, he came to build a relationship among ourselves and also encourage us to build a relationship with God. He came to teach us principles that will qualify us to get in the kingdom, principles that will teach us to be kind of people that God wants us to be, full of love, purpose, respect, peace, joy and more good things.
As children of God we have built a room that does not accommidate whatever Jesus came to teach. Our theology does not accommidate love, peace relationship it does not accommidate the teachings of Jesus.
Our theology does not qualify us to get into heaven because we have synchritized our traditions, our views and our lifestyles with his teaching while he wanted us to repent from tradition and our lifestyle.
We busy preoccupied by things like religiosity that we forget about relationship, we focus on prophecy that we forget about love, we focusing on being best pastors, evangelists, apostles, teachers, and prophets that we forget that its about the kingdom of God and It is also our bodies as a temple of God. Being holy and presentable.
Psalm 24:4-5
He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to an idol or swear by what is false, he will receive a blessing from the Lord and vindication from the Lord of his salvation.
We do not qualify to receive that blessing because our theology, and our traditions have made us filthy but by the grace of God we are still here.
GOD, TONIGHT, WANTS TO RESTORE HIS TEMPLE, YOU!
LETS BE REAL...
Introduction
Matters that matter: we have problems, no matter how much we want to ignore that truth, we have problems.
Stephan Joubert says "Epidemics and global warming make our world old and sick. In many areas the earth is already in intensive care. The increasing occurrences of cancer and heart disease are direct results of this, together with droughts, floods and the extinction of many species." He concludes by saying "we accept the reality of the world with which we are presented."
Our problem as people is not that we are in trouble but it is because we accept the whole idea that we are in trouble. We have accepted trouble in our lives, trouble in our families, trouble in our careers and trouble in our church. The reason why we can not grow is because we are in trouble, we are in a mess, we need saving because Jesus has set us free but we have bound ourselves with trouble.
Trouble according to Sara Tulloch is "Difficulty or Distress; vexation, affliction".
We have taken the issues of the world and made it our own and we forget that we are not of the world but citizen of heaven, the issues of the world are not ours because we are for the kingdom of God. Reaching out to the world to get people saved, but we can not preach to the unsaved because we are caught up in trouble.
As a matter of fact since we are the temple of the Holy Spirit, we have become like a temple in ruins in need or restoration and rebuilding.
Bill Easum says "Everyone perceives reality through their life Metaphors. We are our life Metaphors. Life Metaphors construct reality than simply organize it. They create the world we inhabit rather than simply describe it. When our life Metaphors change we change."
We will always remain as a ruin temple thinking that the Holy Spirit is in, until we change our ideas in life, our church, our family, and our careers. Today We are in ruins because we have given ourselves trouble that does not even belong to you, sickness, broken relationship, sin, hatred, failure, fear, and all the negative things that the world has given you, and today you Have become a broken temple.
We were taught to think that whatever thing that affects the world affects us, we were taught to think that every problem in the world automatically becomes our problem, yet one that hurts the most is that we lied to ourselves and agreed to the theory. the theory that we are one with the world, therefore accept it and build you houses, your family, your career, your life in it because you are one with it.
When are we going to stop being meticulous to the things of the things of the world and focus on God.
We have allowed everything in the world to separate us from God, we have allowed things like sacraments to conduct how we should live, we have allowed religiosity to dictate who should be a pastor and how people should dress, we have allowed things like liturgy to condemn people by excommunication and how to act so that you can be holier than the other person that we forget one thing we are all temple of God that lay in ruins.
A temple that lay in ruins
1. Perversity
2. Broken relationships
3. Wishing people bad things
4. Rebillion
5. Cursing other people
God wats to restore you today!
Subject: Temple
Theme: Rebuild your Temple with God
Scripture: Haggai 1:2-11
Lead sentence:
Pastor Ntuli once preached and said sometimes what we have make us possess pride, these big wall can make us develop pride, our careers can make us develop pride anything and everything can make us have pride. But pride can move us from the presence of God.
How many of us pray and do not hear God speaking because the things around us are speaking louder so that you wont hear him. Actually demons, evil spirits and the devil rejoice when you do not open the bible or even pray or hear God.
Today God says i have seen your weakness and i have come to restore my temple, now God is not here to excite you, but to rebuild his temple, (you).
Proposition:
What i propose to you tonight is that God is still able to change you and revive you to what he wants you to be like.
He looks at you and he sees a temple that needs to be reconstructed, looks at you and all he wants to do is to restore, rebuild, renew, revive you because he loves you.
Transitional:
As we get in the word of God know that the power of God is not limited by anything but in transcends anything and everything. The God we serve is able to restore his temple, he is able to restore you.
History
When we look closely the history of this book we notice that we find Haggai in the book of Ezra his name is written twice and nine times in thus book, he surely played a huge role because he is firstly called a prophet and a messenger which suggests that he spoke to the people, he also was considered one of the people who upon returning could remember how Solomon's temple used to look before it was destroyed he was probably in his 70s or 80s
He was touched deeply when he saw the ruined temple, he was heart broken when he saw the bricks on the ground until the Lord spoke.
This book had four brief but firm massages and all these massages had two primary purposes:
1. To encourage zerubabel and joshua to mobilize the people to rebuild the temple,
2. To challenge and motivate the people to rearrange Their lives and priorities so as to revive their spiritual concerns and resume their work on Gods temple.
IF THEY RENEWED THEIR DEVOTION TO GOD AND HIS PURPOSE, THEY ONCE AGAIN WOULD EXPERIENCE HIS BLESSING.
And Paul comes and says "your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit" 1 Cor 6:19
And he also says
"Continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling" phil 2:12
Verse 4:
The people of found themselves in a mess.
1.they have been in captivity for long,
2. They were exposed to other gods,
3. They have houses to build,
4. The temple of God was in ruins,
5. They had to to start from the begining,
6. They had to build farms.
They started working on themselves, building houses for their families. Making sure that the is Food on the table.
God noticed where they were in life, poverty, sick, no food, no shelter, the loos of lives over the years of captivity but above all things God noticed that they have forgotten about him, therefore Gods intention was to motivate them to believe in God and he will pour out his blessing.
HOW MANY OF US ARE WAITING FOR THAT ANSWER, HOW MANY OF US ARE GOING THROUGH THAT SITUATION.
We have more important things to do at home,
1. some of us dont even pray and you wonder why your children hate church,
2. Some of us are more focused on putting food on the table that you forgot about your God.
3. Your kids are failing at school, your partner is sick, your relatives are dying and all that God wants you to do to for his blessing to come upon you is to rebuild his temple.
He wants you to re-invite him in your life,
Allow him to use you.
God saw you weaknes, he saw your needs and all he wants from you is to abide in shadow of his wing.
THE ENEMY WILL COME IN A FORM OF A FLOOD BUT GOD WILL RAISE THE STANDARD IF YOU ABIDE BY HIM.
WE NEED TO BE A GENERATION THAT WALKS NOT BY SIGHT BUT BY THE SPIRIT.
Let me take it to church for a minuet:-
We are more focused on baptism, fasting, praying and preaching that we forget who God is.
Everything we do will always be in vein until God is hornored in his house.
1. Pride rules the in the house Of God,
2. Broken relationships is an idol of the church,
3. Porvety rules the church,
4. Fornication, divorce and flesh rules in the house of God because
A. we have forgoten about the kingdom,
B. have forgoten God,
C. We have forgoten the reason why Jesus died.
God says its time to rebuild his temple
Forget all religiosity,
Forget all your worries
Forget the pride
Forget the money
Forget whatever issue the world is going through and focus on me the perfecter of your faith.
Build my temple, let me use you, let me overflow in you.
Its not about baptism, its not about the holy communion its about my blood which was shared on the cross, its about you and i being one.
God is calling you to rebuild his Church
Last night I was sharing the word and God prepared me to say the above information. I love God because he stays true to his word.
Enjoy your day.
Like always I am HLOGI and these are my words
